About
Sweetcrete is revolutionizing the construction industry with bio-based construction products, using a unique blend of proprietary hardware and software solutions. We focus on utilizing bagasse, one of the world’s largest bio-waste byproducts (600m tons available p.a.), as our primary material, aiming to remove 0.5Gt of CO2e by 2050—a goal backed by leading carbon-focused investors.
Our bagasse-based block walls outperform traditional materials with 10-12x better thermal insulation and humidity regulation, significantly reducing energy consumption for heating and cooling. That is why we are ambitious enough to want to tackle both non-structural and structural walls. Beyond materials, we’re digitizing the bio-based architecture process, standardizing design-to-construction workflows to streamline the industry.

Material-mix
Sweetcrete products are mainly made of bagasse, lime, water and natural additives.

Bagasse is a by-product of the sugarcane industry globally.
Lime as a binder boasts a rich historical legacy. It was utilized by the Greeks for surfaces and the Romans perfected it as a basic ingredient for concrete used in load bearing structures.

Water is abundant in all sugarcane producing countries like Costa Rica, the country where Sweetcrete was born. We then add natural additives.

We call the result
Sweetcrete!
The Sweetcrete mix allows for numerous construction products to be produced sustainably, converting an agricultural byproduct/waste, bagasse, into an incredible and valuable basis for sustainable construction.

Structural & Seismic Lab Testing
Laboratorio Nacional de Materiales y Modelos Estructurales of the University of Costa Rica
At Sweetcrete the goal is to go beyond pure insulation products and be able to use some of our products also in structural walls as can be seen in the adjacent picture, where the team was testing structural and seismic characteristics of our structural wall block product.

Industry Partnerships
Sweetcrete provides great partnership and revenue potential for the below industries, whilst significantly reducing their carbon footprint with actual CO2 removal.

Sugar mills
Sweetcrete turns sugar mills' byproduct "waste" into a more valuable resource, creating higher revenue streams than burning it does. On top of reducing the carbon footprint.

Architects & Developers
Sweetcrete enables Architects and Developers to lower construction costs and reduce energy consumption of final built environments via superior insulation. On top of reducing the carbon footprint.

Block/Panel manufacturers
Sweetcrete enables current block or insulation panel manufacturers to diversify into a more sustainable line of products. These are not mutually exclusive. On top of reducing the carbon footprint.
